Through our fundraising efforts; in Brianne’s memory, we have chosen to financially support several special charities that made a significant difference in her life.

Brianne’s LEAP of Hope is dedicated to contributing to the $5 Million required to build the new Pediatric Hospice and Respite Centre for Southern Alberta. This facility will be the first stand-alone pediatric hospice and respite care facility in Calgary to bridge the gap between caring for a child at home and the hospital. The hospice program would serve families who are no longer able to care for their terminally ill child at home and may prefer their child receive end-of-life care in a home like setting instead of a hospital. Families caring for children with long-term progressive life limiting illness at home could access respite to prevent burn out and help sustain them in their care giving role. Currently emergency respite care for children is at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, which is not a good use of hospital beds.

The Calgary Health Region has committed $1.9 million annually for operating costs, beginning as early as April 2007, providing the initial $5 million capital is raised to build the facility.

We also support another fantastic charity that sent our family to Disneyland, CA when Brianne was first diagnosed; The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada; who is dedicated to working within the community to fulfill heart felt wishes for children diagnosed with a high-risk, life-threatening illness.

Brianne's LEAP of Hope also continues to help fund research into the cause, cure and control of Metachromatic Leukodystrophy, and related un-named Leukodystrophies.
We support various genetic research projects in Canada including (but not limited to) Bethany’s Hope Foundation, London, Ont. With your ongoing support we will keep the research funded, and help find a cure for these dreaded diseases.

Brianne's LEAP of Hope is not a government agency, and therefore we must rely on the generosity of the public to help fund these remarkable organizations. With your ongoing support, we will continue to be there providing the funding to keep these charities going, and help us provide the families affected by similar rare, childhood-metabolic diseases with hope for tomorrow.
